Imagenius Interiors: Dine In Style At Zinzi Restaurant
Zinzi Restaurant is an African Inspired eatery on Hunter’s Estate, Plettenberg Bay. Designed by Paul Oosthuizen with interiors and styling by Imagenious Interiors, it is an immaculate open space overlooking the dam.
Zinzi draws its inspiration from Nomadic African style, with textured concrete walls, screeded floors, beautiful antique Zanzibari doors and windows. The interiors are simple – Indian style tables and chairs upholstered in nomadic Suzani style handprinted textiles in natural tones.
Large antique tables with bench style dining and oversized chairs as well as low tables and handcrafted leather pouffes on Indian grinding wheels offer a relaxed interactive dining experience.
Apart from the African inspiration seen in the architecture and manifested in the use of the natural materials in the building, there is a global tribal inspiration drawn from the beautiful carving and metalwork of India and the patterns of the tribal Suzani textiles.
Subtle texture form the canvas on the walls with understated contrasts brought in by the combination of the stone masonry, raw scratch plaster, rough neutral Earthcote and waxed plaster that has the feel of smooth old leather.
Beautiful inside and out, the interior has been created to complement the beautiful landscape. Vibrant and casual with distinctive international flavours, Zinzi Restaurant offers an abundant and tasty menu, in an incredible forest setting.
Handmade mud chandeliers preside in the interior, with clay balls brought to life by the sparkle of crystal. The fabrics of raw textured, natural fibres in combinations of wheat, stone, ebony and slate colours form the foundation, while hand printed Suzani fabrics, worn leather, soft suede and Lizard print silver fabrics add a touch of contemporary fun and the luscious velvets a sense of opulence.
The menu in keeping is styled around African Meze, with wholesome fresh South African meals using seasonal locally sourced produce, fresh salads, hearty tagines and a good selection of the best Cape wines.
Imagenius Interiors was involved in this project over 10 years ago and the style is still fresh, contemporary and appropriate.
Ideal for sundowners at the bar or for a relaxed dining experience, ZINZI embraces the spirit of honest cuisine and zesty ingredients with a choice selection of a la carte menu items.
