House Tour: Sophisticated London Style

A mix of interesting hues and stylish storage solutions fill today’s bold London abode. Step inside and experience a sense of modern elegance, from quirky and bright bathrooms to eclectic and engaging living spaces.

Moving to the centre of the city with a growing family may seem like a daunting decision. However, owners of this two-storey apartment in London wanted to be near enough to the bustle of city life. They embarked on an apartment renovation to make this home their own, and one which could be enjoyed by the whole family.

Light & Bright

High ceilings and large windows were a definite winner in this apartment. A sure way to keep it light, bright and energetic for a young family. Initially, when they first bought the flat, walls were covered in beige. As a starting point, a fun selection of colours was chosen for each room. They also opted to make a few structural changes and opened up the kitchen and dining space to make it a more open-plan space.

Storage is everything in this home. Floor-to-ceiling cupboards mean there is a place to store all their belongings and more. The couple also decided to restore many of the home’s original features. This includes bringing the classic marble fireplace in the living room back to life and adding cornice work in a style true to 1865 when the property was built.

Bold Colour

A splash of bold colour enhances the living room, but not where one would expect it. A bold denim ceiling sets the tone here and further highlights the height of the room. Combined with mid-century finds and clean-lined contemporary pieces, the room is filled with character. It is also practical with robust materials that are ideal when you have small kids hanging around.

The bedrooms are more of a haven. Featuring darker tones and soft materials, each room enhances a space of relaxation. However, the bathrooms and ensuite are where owners brought out a more playful side. Bright colours, patterned wallpaper and brass sanitaryware add to the overall look here.
