Fabbian Presents Dome at Bluebar Club LaVela
Framed in a breath-taking location with a view of Capri, in large spaces that overlook a sheer drop down to the sea, Dome by Fabbian is the protagonist of the Bluebar cocktail bar/lounge, designed for Club LaVela by Alessandro Di Prisco Design Studio.
Alessandro Di Prisco designed Dome for Fabbian in 2022: a modular suspension lighting system that brings to mind an architectural element, the vaulted dome.
The bodies of the lamps are linked by arches that connect together to create a series of vaults, generating architectures made of light that have a strong visual impact.
The modularity of the Dome system, and its ability to be combined in an unlimited number of modules, make it extremely flexible and suitable for both residential and contract use: a system of light fittings that are very simple but have a theatrical character that can be repeated endlessly.
Making an impression
One recent example is at the Bluebar cocktail bar/lounge of the Club LaVela restaurant in Torre Del Greco. Designed by the Alessandro Di Prisco Design Studio, Bluebar gets its character from the use of brass for the arches of the light fittings, the display niches, and the kickboard of the bar counter. This is Rosa Nepal marble which is used for the bar counter top and the worktops behind the bar and glazed Vietri ceramic tiles for the vertical surfaces.
Architect Alessandro Di Prisco explains: “The enamelled Vietri terracotta tiles were all made by hand. Each one is different from the others; the imperfections in the detail that the artisan has left on each tile add character to the surrounding space, making it lively and dynamic. So each imperfection results in an artefact that is unique and exclusive”.
The contemporary geometries of the Vietri ceramic tiles on the front of the bar alternate with the more classic formats of the tiling at the back. Shades of blue predominate, recalling the colours of the sea, which are the optimal tones for enhancing the light within the space.
The Dome lighting system suspended above the bar counter is a visual continuation of the arched niches in the wall. It enhances the ways in which the materials have been combined, paying homage to the local tradition and the colours of this native land to which it belongs!
