Cartier: New Flagship Store
A fusion of art and luxury, Cartier’s new flagship store in Chicago, USA, introduces a new level of splendour with custom artwork by Atelier Lison de Caunes.
A stunning blend of luxury and craftsmanship, the boutique, designed by Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille, is characterised by a cream-coloured palette adorned with intricate textures, Art Deco touches, rich hues and exquisite straw marquetry that epitomises contemporary elegance and artistic finesse. Elements of Chicago’s street grid are also incorporated into the bright, light-filled boutique, highlighted by a bespoke brass chandelier and geometric limestone flooring.
A highlight of the interior is two large curved panels that feature a sophisticated herringbone pattern with a subtle gradient. Crafted by Atelier Lison de Caunes the designs feature alternating colours, ranging from gold to rich reds, shimmering blues to greens.
Another focal point is a stunning bas-relief featuring the iconic Cartier panther overlooking the Chicago River.
A visual experience as much as a shopping experience, the refined space exudes a luxurious ambience – perfectly complementing the house’s creations.
This is not the first time Atelier Lison de Caunes has collaborated with Cartier to create exclusive interiors. The atelier also worked with Cartier on the renovation of its historic boutique at 13, rue de la Paix in Paris and on the opening of its boutique in Geneva.
In both these projects, straw marquetry was also used as a signature decorative element and to reinforce the singular character of the brand.
The 3,000-square-foot Cartier Chicago boutique offers jewellery, watches, eyewear, leather goods, accessories, bridal creations and collections for men and women.
Cartier Chicago is situated at 15 East Oak Street.
