Art Talent Yinjispace
In an exciting celebration of Cape Town’s design and art talent, Yinjispace has collaborated with South African designers to host the Cape Town Design & Art Tour.
A renowned Chinese design platform, this collaboration between Yinjispace and local makers and creators ran from 9 to 15 June and aimed to highlight the city as a global design hub.
The tour brought together prominent Chinese property developers, architects, and interior designers who participated in in-depth masterclasses covering various design dimensions, including architecture, interior design, furniture, and art. Yinjispace also partnered with local galleries and artists such as Southern Guild, Bronze Age Studio, Zizipho Poswa and Andile Dyalvane to enrich the tour with diverse creative perspectives and talents.
Yinjispace also worked with SAOTA, the internationally renowned architecture studio, and its sister companies ARRCC, an interior design studio, and OKHA, a luxury furniture and design studio, who spearheaded a series of masterclasses around the city, opened their studios to share invaluable insights and expertise and led tours of completed projects in and around Cape Town.
Participants explored SAOTA projects like Upper Albert, Beyond, Kloof House, and ARRCC’s Glen Villa, with lead architects and designers presenting detailed talks on each project’s architecture and interior design. The group also spent a day at Bosjes in Ceres, where Tiaan Meyer from Meyer & Associates guided them through the estate’s architecture and the design of the famous chapel and Botha’s Halte Primary School.
By highlighting South Africa’s design and art talents, the organisers hope to foster relations between South Africa and China, promoting tourism, cross-cultural collaboration and the exchange of ideas and innovation.
