Plascon House Tour: Cosmopolitan soul in Barcelona
A character-filled residence is where we will be touring today. This cosmopolitan abode in Barcelona is packed with details reminiscent of the past, from beautifully adorned ceilings to cement tiles and decorative flooring.
After living in China, a couple and their son returned to Barcelona loaded with furniture and souvenirs. In the Eixample district, they succeeded in combining their previous life with that of the present and created a cosmopolitan soul in a home where the sumptuous cement tiles hold a prominent place. The result is an eclectic space with influences from all over the globe. Stately mouldings can be found throughout this home. The high ceilings and natural light make it feel fresh and bright in a classic, chic and contemporary interior space. The lounge has a simple, casual flair, with two easily movable centre tables and a family sized sofa to accommodate the needs of a family with a young child. A large area rug also adds some comfort and warmth to this room. The floors are a definite focal point – the unrivalled detail of which becomes a permanent fixture in this home. Furniture is kept to a minimum, as to not clash with the striking patterns of the flooring. Similarly in the dining area, simple design is key. Minimal table decorations are chosen and instead, a playful mix of art adorns the walls to add some colour and zest into this space. We also love the unique hanging planters that further add interest in this room. The result? A quirky family abode with a mix of styles and influences from around the world.
