Annie Sloan: Festive Cheer

2020 is a year none of us will forget, but there is still much to be thankful for. Communities have become closer, many of us have rediscovered wholesome hobbies (hello banana bread!), and you may have even completed some DIY projects around the house!

With Annie Sloan always close at hand, it’s easy to see why we’ve enjoyed the time indoors and creating beautiful things. If you need some inspiration, look no further than these gorgeous furniture makeovers presented by Annie Sloan herself…

Bold in Red

Here’s the most “Thanksgiving-y” piece of furniture Annie could find this year – the festive red colour! The pumpkin! The pail of flowers! Just a really joyful, farmhouse-homely piece by Whitney of White House On The Square.  These matching drawers are painted with Chalk Paint® in Emperor’s Silk with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax. We hope it makes you feel warm and fuzzy and cosy inside!

Chalk Paint® in bold, bright, and joyful Emperor’s Silk!

This will always be one of Annie’s all-time favourite Chalk Paint® colours because it’s so intensely pigment-packed. You will not find another red like it. It really is a top-tier luxuriously saturated colour, one that truly would be fit for an Emperor! The name references the inspiration, which is that sublimely elegant red of the silk lining of a traditional Chinese jacket. For extra Oriental-inspiration, use Emperor’s Silk deepened with Black Chalk Paint® Wax to suggest Chinese Lacquer. Alternatively, use it in the interior of a cupboard or drawer for a pop of colour.

Tess’s Bedroom Inspo

This utterly **incredible** bed frame and room was painted by Tess Newall, a set designer and Chalk Paint® artist who has worked on Downton Abbey.

Click here to rewatch the conversation which was a truly inspiring half hour during which Tess and Annie Sloan discovered a shared love of everybody from Omega workshop creator Roger Fry to Russian avant garde performance Artist Natasha Goncharova. We really recommend a watch if you’re feeling uninspired, lonely, or just a little flat. These half hour inspiration conversations are a wonderful pick me up!
