Spotlight: Meet The Inkspired Team

Innovative architecture at its best. Inkspired is a local architectural powerhouse established in 2010, offering a complete package of architectural services which best suits the client’s specific needs.

We bring you the latest news from Inkspired after our conversation with the team behind this brand… Here’s what Inkspired’s Head Interior Architect, Juliet Kavishe and Managing Director, Kakra Asare-Bediako, had to share with us.

How would you describe your personal style?

Juliet: Afro-Minimalist

Kakra: Clean and expressive

What qualities define your business?

Young, Bold, Creative and Dynamic. We are able to visualize designs holistically.

What sets your brand apart in the industry at the moment?

At Inkspired, we pride ourselves with perseverance and precision as our core values within the firm. Our clients’ expectations are met through our hands-on commitment and integrity, as well as our continuous skills improvement to ensure the success of every project we partake on. We also specialise in interiors and construction hence we are able to embark on our projects holistically.

What is the most recent purchase you’ve made for your own homes?

Juliet: A floor rug for my study because I like walking around barefoot in my home and rugs always add a depth of interest and tactile variety underfoot.

Kakra: Purchased some wooden sculptures, from my recent travels to Ghana.

What one design element, trend or furniture item can you not live
without?

Art, because it has a way of transforming a space whilst allowing for personal taste to be celebrated.

What design influence has had the greatest influence on your business?

Contemporary design with the use of materiality in finishes to define design details.

What has been one of the most challenging projects you have worked on?

Al Qasr Residential Apartments, a high end residential project in Linbro Park has been one of our challenging projects thus far due to the fact that at the time of appointment, our firm had never embarked on such a project. The design was imbued with religious and cultural details befitting the end-users. We will forever be grateful to the developers who entrusted us to execute such a unique brief.

How would you describe the design industry in South Africa at present?

Inspiring to say the least, various South African companies have managed to win international awards competing against some of the big global designers. It goes further to illustrate that local design talent is actually global which bodes well for the growth of our industry.

What trends do you think we should keep an eye on in upcoming seasons?

Architecture is a movement that expresses the time frames or paradigms of a certain era. With the advent of Global Warming becoming more and more apparent, Sustainability in Design will become the norm.

What exciting projects do you have planned within the next year?

The Refurbishment of 3 Gwen Lane in Sandton and our new offices, which we
believe are a great way to kick-start a new decade!.

Inkspired’s commitment to good design is not only based on sound academic principles but also on years of experience held by their team. Uncompromising quality and responsiveness ultimately add value to clients’ projects. This belief has helped the firm to secure many ambitious commissions in the few years since inception.
