Plascon Hour Tour: Old Family Home

Today’s glorious house tour takes us to a family residence in Sweden which has been a part of the family for many generations. Although an old home, this abode is filled with spirit and character, and is perfectly adorned in time for Christmas.

What we love about this living space is that the finishes are bold and ground the space in dark shades. From a gorgeous area rug to a bold black upholstered sofa and lighter ottoman. Shades of green and blue fill this family space, with a gorgeous cloud-like light fitting that creates the illusion of floating on air. Greenery, along with a bold Christmas tree further adds to the colour palette of this space, and we love that the room feels calm and sophisticated, with ample scatters in all complimentary shades. A striking black coffee table is perfectly styled, complete with whimsical candle holders, glass vase and an arrangement of books. The glow of candlelight adds a softening touch to this peaceful interior and again, we are drawn towards the plethora of scatters on the sofa, for maximum comfort here. Greenery and candles extend into the kitchen with a clever use of natural wreath on the wall and suspended from above the dining table. Modern white subway tiles add a more contemporary feel to this space, as well as industrial style task lighting and modern matte black cabinetry. The dining table is set for a meal, complete with a mix of wooden chairs that add to the lived-in and eclectic atmosphere of this home. High ceilings with vintage wooden exposed beams add to the character of this residence. A loft-style staircase leads to an upstairs landing and an interesting use of floral wallpaper fills the space in muted shades of beige and blue. The focal wall behind the main bed is bold in shades of charcoal which add a modern twist on this more traditional home. The arched ceiling hints at the style of the architecture and the space seems filled to capacity with a bed. Space is limited here but the neutral palette and simple layout make it feel fresh and uncluttered. And that bathroom floor is to die for! Those blue and white mosaic tiles are exquisite and we love the vibrancy of the patterns and colour choice here! Contact: Plascon Via
