Poetry Expands Its World: A New Era of Lifestyle Design Begins
Poetry Living
This spring marks an exciting new chapter for Poetry, as the beloved South African brand continues its evolution from fashion favourite to complete lifestyle destination. Celebrating its impressive debut at Decorex Johannesburg, alongside the announcement of its first dedicated Johannesburg concept store, Poetry is redefining the way South Africans experience beautifully considered living.
Taking centre stage at Decorex Johannesburg, Poetry unveiled an immersive installation that captivated visitors and judges alike, earning the prestigious Best Décor Stand award. More than simply an exhibition, the stand offered an enchanting glimpse into the brand’s expanding creative universe, where fashion, interiors and storytelling seamlessly intertwine.
Designed as a life-sized dollhouse, the stand was enveloped in a bespoke floral wallpaper created by Poetry and brought to life in collaboration with Cara Saven Wall Design. Every surface was wrapped in intricate pattern, transforming the space into a whimsical, transportive environment that invited visitors to step inside Poetry’s distinctive aesthetic.
Inspired by the nostalgic idea of “playing house,” the installation explored femininity, imagination and the emotional connections we build with our homes. Through carefully manipulated scale, layered textures and richly detailed surfaces, Poetry created a playful yet sophisticated environment that translated its design philosophy into an unforgettable spatial experience.
One of the exhibition’s most compelling features was the seamless integration of Poetry and Poetry of Living. Upholstered furniture was dressed in Poetry’s signature Spring floral print, marking the first time one of the brand’s iconic fashion textiles had been reimagined for interiors. The result was a beautiful expression of continuity, demonstrating how the prints we wear can naturally evolve into the pieces that define our homes.
Building on this momentum, Poetry will open its first dedicated Johannesburg lifestyle destination at Nelson Mandela Square in mid-September. Following the success of its Sea Point concept store, the new flagship represents a significant milestone in the brand’s ongoing transformation.
Unlike a traditional retail environment, the Nelson Mandela Square concept store has been designed around the home, offering customers a fully immersive lifestyle experience. Furniture, décor, homeware and lifestyle collections will take centre stage, complemented by carefully curated seasonal fashion capsules. Rather than separating these categories, the store presents them as one cohesive story—illustrating how personal style naturally extends from the wardrobe into every corner of the home.

The opening also marks the debut of Poetry’s first dedicated Poetry of Living concept store, bringing together the brand’s most comprehensive furniture, décor and homeware collection under one roof. While Poetry has steadily expanded its interiors offering in recent years, many consumers still associate the brand primarily with fashion. This new destination is set to redefine that perception, showcasing Poetry as a complete lifestyle brand inspired by thoughtful, timeless living.
Beyond its retail expansion, Poetry is strengthening its commitment to South Africa’s design community through its dedicated Trade Programme. Developed specifically for interior designers, decorators, architects and stylists, the programme provides exclusive trade pricing, access to the brand’s growing furniture and homeware collections, fabric customisation across selected furniture ranges, early access to new collections and dedicated support from a Poetry Trade Partner Consultant.

Reflecting on the significance of the new concept store, Creative Director Johan Hewitt-van der Merwe explains:
“For me, what’s exciting about this store is the opportunity to show the Poetry world in its entirety. We’ve always believed that personal style doesn’t stop at the wardrobe. It’s reflected in the spaces we create, the tables we gather around, and the objects we choose to live with. Nelson Mandela Square allows us to bring all of those elements together in one place and create an experience that feels both inspiring and deeply personal.”
With its award-winning Decorex presentation and landmark Johannesburg concept store, Poetry is entering an exciting new era. More than expanding its product offering, the brand is crafting an immersive lifestyle—one where fashion, interiors and everyday rituals come together to celebrate creativity, comfort and beautifully curated living.
