Reciprocal Wines: A Glass So Fine, It Feels Handmade
Wine lovers the world over understand that RIEDEL wine glasses are developed in different shapes and sizes, for specific grape varieties. Riedel Veloce looks and feels handmade! This glass collection, is in fact, produced by machine, using state-of-the-art technology.
RIEDEL Veloce is an impressive development. The glass is taller, has a thinner stem and finer bowls. A specially developed machine, at RIEDEL’s Weiden factory, enables them to draw stems that are as fine as those made by hand by a master glassmaker. The base, with a diameter of 100 mm, sets a new standard for large glass shapes and is the maximum that has ever been produced by a machine.
The weightlessness of RIEDEL Veloce is extraordinary. There is a sense that it has been crafted from gossamer. The balance and feel are perfect, haunting and elusive.
Maximilian Riedel selected the Italian name “Veloce”, meaning “swift”. In a way, it is a homage to technology, as glassmaking by hand is now a declining craft.
Furthermore, RIEDEL Veloce is the perfect glass for wine connoisseurs and is dishwasher safe.
“It requires a very high level of expertise to be able to produce these glasses by machine, and I say that not without a little pride.”
– Maximilian J. Riedel.
