Plascon House Tour: A Rustic Mediterranean Retreat
A beautiful Mediterranean retreat was the brief for this family abode located on the Spanish coast of Costa Brava. In keeping with the area’s natural architecture, beautiful stonework and local materials have been incorporated into this magnificent home.
Our favourite thing about Spanish homes is that there is often no evident divide between the interior and exterior spaces of a Spanish villa. In today’s stylish home we see how the living areas are extended outdoors to maximise the temperate climate and pleasures of outdoor living. Gorgeous stonework walls frame the home, adding rustic charm and appeal to this fascinating family abode.
Things are kept natural with warm honey-toned timber and a light colour palette of neutrals in every room. In the kitchen, striking wooden cabinetry is a feature and we love the bold kitchen island that is a statement piece here. The flow from the kitchen to an outdoor dining space is idyllic and perfect for those warm Spanish summer days. A pool is also the perfect addition to this family home and surely makes for hours of outdoor pleasure with the kids!
There is a real celebration of raw and natural materials throughout the interior. Natural textiles and light linens are found throughout, from the statement white sofa to the bedrooms. Rustic wooden light pendants add to the look, as does a bold wooden dining table that brings warmth and richness to this space.
Darker shades of brown bring modern appeal to the rustic, earthy bathroom where concrete fittings are sleek and open up to a walk-in shower for the ultimate luxury. Stonework tiling forms the base of the shower with a striking rain-water showerhead for added spa-like wonder! Elements of wood and timber bring balance and freshness to this space, from a gorgeous wooden framed mirror to natural wood shelving for added storage.
Crisp, fresh and serene, the bedroom too is a beautiful blend of natural elements and textiles in a light and inviting space. We can’t get enough of those innovative light pendants that offer a contrast to this room.
