NancyDesigns: Burning Hot Interior Trends This Autumn

Candles, fireplaces, and lush throws, all these cosy items are the perfect accessory to give off a feeling of warmth in your home. Through the last couple of years a hygge interior style became popular in the design industry. For those not aware, hygge, pronounced “hyoo-guh”, is a Danish word which translates to “comfort”, and is often described as a vibe or feeling that you’d get from snuggling indoors on a cold day. Who wouldn’t want to feel that way whenever you step into your home? I know I do!

Here are 4 tips to change up your home to have a more Hygge interior style:

Focus on lighting

A home focusing on a hygge interior style should have a focus on lighting. Whether it be placing candles or installing lighting, this is one element that can affect your mood in the best way possible. NancyDesigns has a variety of candles for your decor needs that can be placed in any room of the home.

Add cosy elements

Making your room feel more cosy is a wonderful way to bring warmth into any room. Adding a soft throw blanket over your bed or couch is a great way to showcase this. Another way could be by accessorizing your couch with fluffy/textured scatter cushions, this offers a great treat to your sense of touch through comfortable textures.

A project done by Interior designer Nancy Hartman for a Hyde Park Home is a perfect example to showcase these elements. The project included custom furniture for the client that stylishly went with all the wallpaper supplied and installed by NancyDesigns.

Less is more

Always remember, keeping things simple can add a quality effect compared to having an interior space filled with too many items. A great way of showcasing this is by keeping a balance between style and functionality. An ideal element is this Floor lamp with a display shelf base only at R3,333.00 available on NancyDesigns’s Online shop. It’s not just a floor lamp, but also a display shelf for your books or plants. Talk about the best of both worlds, while looking elegant at the same time!

Add a fireplace

If you want to take the hygge experience to the next level, getting a fireplace is the perfect interior trend to incorporate into your home. A fireplace is a timeless way to create an element of warmth and togetherness, whether it be indoor or outdoor. NancyDesign teamed up with Symbol Projects cc to design this gorgeous built-in firepit with a seating area in Waterfall Estate.
