Inside The Beach House of Nate Berkus And Jeremiah Brent
Step inside the beautiful beach home of celeb designer Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent. This home is a sanctuary for their growing family, located in Montauk, at the tip of the South Fork peninsula of Long Island, New York.
The couple had initially moved away from New York to LA and then back to New York to be closer to the beach. This Montauk beach house is what brought them back to the water. And we can’t love but fall in love with every detail!
A home with history
The house was previously owned by photographer Raphael Mazzucco and oozes a sense of history. It is situated on a nature reserve and boasts an attractive landscape with lots of light. Not much was needed to make this home come alive, so the couple gave the house a simple renovation “face-lift,” as they characterize it.
They, therefore, painted the exterior black to contrast with the brightness within. Furthermore, they stripped and sanded floors for added lightness, and redid the kitchen with plaster walls and white concrete countertops. Perhaps most crucially, they added 40 percent more native vegetation to the surrounding land.
An Eclectic Travel-Inspired Space
The interior is filled with the couple’s own personal collections. Many finds are inspired by international travels to the likes of Portugal, Mexico, and Peru.
Down the hallway is the great room with its 22-foot-high ceilings and the stone fireplace. Much of the furniture is from Berkus and Brent’s collaboration with the company Living Spaces, which they mixed with online finds from Etsy and eBay covered in performance fabrics.
The interior now boasts a timeless neutral backdrop. It also had to be family-friendly, as the couple have two young children. They chose a mix of materials like wicker, jute, and other woven textiles for an artisanal contrast. It’s, therefore, a beautifully layered interior, boasting a mix of textures and tones
In the end, this home has become a sanctuary for the family. It is a gorgeous beach retreat where life can be lived to the full.
