The home of copper.
Born out of love and necessity, Copptique is the creative love child of husband-and-wife duo Rob and Shahnaz.
Shahnaz loves rose-hued home items but could not find many when the couple first moved to South Africa. So, with her eye and Rob’s passion for creating and making furniture, they decided to launch Copptique.
“With a need for a sleek modern clothing rail, we launched the clothing rails from copper pipe and then decided to continue to create a whole variety of home decor,” they explain.
Today, the local company is well-known for its distinctive copper items, from side tables, shoe racks and towel rails to drinks trolleys, lamps and wine racks, as well as plant stands and magazine racks.
“Rob is the super-talented maker who works hard on the handmade copper and clothing rails, shelving units and other pieces from scratch and hand-finishes all the pieces,” Shahnaz adds.
Apart from the ready-made pieces available to purchase through their online store, Copptique also takes on custom orders for furniture and fittings.
Custom pieces are carefully designed by Rob himself to each client’s specifications and then constructed from copper before being treated with an anti-tarnish lacquer to ensure longevity.
“This makes our products luxurious statement pieces,” the duo concludes of the bespoke items they’ve made, which have included a special Six Dogs gin bottle holder and a beautiful drinks trolley the couple says is one of their all-time favourite pieces.
