Nicolson Russell: How to Set Up A Trendy Home Bar

With most of us not venturing too far from home this season, we’re looking for fun new ways to reinvent our homes and make the most out of our spaces. We reckon a trendy home bar is a definite winner for the summer months. We asked the experts from Nicolson Russell for their top tips in creating a stylish home bar – perfect for summer fun at home!

A good home bar starts with the right variation of glasses. Which glass do you need for which drink? What’s a good option for a G&T or a wine spritzer? What wine should you keep on hand?

Emma Russell, founder of Nicolson Russell, shares her expert opinion…

What’s the ideal cocktail glass for fizzes and G&T’s from your collection?

“Our pink, smoke and clear coupe glasses or our Shanghai red wine glasses which are beautiful big goblets, like a gin glass.”

Although high-ball tumblers are the more popular choice for a gin, we love the idea of balloon-glass options with a stem so that you don’t warm up your G&T on those hot summer afternoons. Stylish and functional!

What glass from your range would you recommend for a wine spritzer?

“Our Shanghai white wine glasses.”

Nicolson Russell’s coloured Shangai glassware range comes with gold rims for that added touch of elegance. Now you can drink those spritzers in style!

What’s your favourite wine?

“Babel by Babylonstoren and Fusion 5 by De Toren”.

Can you share a reminiscent Art Deco evening with us?

“The opening of The Silo hotel.”

Cape Town’s Silo Hotel opened on the V&A Waterfront in 2017, replete with eclectic and industrial-inspired interiors.

What products from your collection would you personally put on display?

Our New Sistine Chapel teacups.”

These beautiful teacups are made from fine bone china and with real gold finish. It is available in a set of 5 teacups.
