The power of scent and illumination can contribute to the mood and nuance of a still moment. Candles can do that. February, often memorialised as the month of love, in due tones of Valentine’s Day, is a reminder of the essence of candlelight in the home and how it subdues the outside world and ignites what’s indoors. Love, satisfied by romance, family or friendship is an honour to feel. A candle can take us away from the millions of thoughts we experience daily and make us present in this moment.
