Mother’s Day: Let’s Make It Magical

Let’s face it – Mother’s Day 2020 will most likely be very different from previous years. With the entire world ‘at pause’ during this difficult time, we may also be spending time away from our mothers this year. We will need to think outside of the box in order to make it a magical day for all mothers.

Some of these ideas may require a little extra planning, but here we share some tips to creating a magical Mother’s Day, even when in quarantine.

1. Have a virtual bake-off with mom.

If you’re spending time apart from your precious mother today, why not do a video call and have your mom and yourself bake at the same time, but from your own homes. Perhaps a simple recipe (or your mom’s favourite treats) like pancakes, or flap jacks, can become a time of bonding as you share the baking experience virtually and prepare some goodies together over a video call.

2. Send mom a coupon or voucher to be redeemed at a later date.

Many businesses are offering vouchers for redemption after lockdown. Spoil mom with a salon voucher, or a coupon to her favourite stores and products which she can use once businesses are fully open.

3. Have something special delivered.

Whether it is a homecooked meal or a special gift from an online store, you can gift your mom something magical for delivery today – or if you haven’t planned ahead, have your gift delivered over the next few weeks. Tell mom to keep a look out for something special arriving at her home soon enough.

4. If you’re a mom of young kids, plan something special and different today.

Instead of a massive Mother’s Day celebration with a 3-course meal, why not do something unique this year. A simple picnic can be fun for everyone in lockdown. Pack in your favourite snacks and drinks and head outdoors to enjoy the Autumn weather. Relax in nature and be thankful that we have this down time with our loved ones.
