Upholstered Bed Care Tips | MojoBeds
A beautifully upholstered headboard or bed frame can make a bedroom feel wonderfully inviting. From soft, textured fabrics to elegant padded designs, upholstery brings warmth, comfort and personality to a space. And while these pieces are designed to be enjoyed every day, a little regular care can go a long way towards keeping them looking their best. MojoBeds shares its advice on upholstered bed care, helping homeowners maintain the beauty and comfort of their bedroom furniture.
Fortunately, looking after upholstered bedroom furniture doesn’t have to be complicated. MojoBeds shares a few simple tips to help keep favourite upholstered pieces fresh, clean and beautiful for years to come.
Start with regular vacuuming. Upholstered furniture naturally attracts dust, particularly around the edges, seams and base of the headboard. Using a soft upholstery attachment, gently vacuum across the fabric, including the side panels and bed frame. Avoid pressing too firmly, as a light touch helps protect the weave and padding.
Of course, the occasional spill is almost inevitable, especially for those who enjoy their morning coffee in bed. The trick is to act quickly. Use a dry, absorbent cloth or paper towel to soak up excess liquid, then gently dab the affected area with a slightly damp cloth. Follow with another dry cloth to absorb any remaining moisture, then let the fabric air-dry completely.
Whatever the circumstances, it is best to resist the temptation to scrub. Harsh detergents and vigorous rubbing can damage or discolour upholstery, so gentle cleaning is always preferable. Always check the manufacturer’s care instructions before using water on a particular fabric.
Also pay attention to areas that regularly come into contact with skin and hair, especially the lower section of the headboard. After vacuuming, lightly dab these surfaces with a damp cloth, absorb the moisture with a dry towel, and let the fabric breathe before making the bed. Following these upholstered bed care tips can help preserve the appearance and condition of upholstered furniture.
With just a little attention, upholstered bedroom furniture can remain a beautiful, comfortable part of the bedroom for many restful nights to come.
