The Beauty of Nature: 6 Ways To Bring The Outdoors In
We’re all spending so much more time indoors and particularly at home with our families during this difficult season. If we learn to embrace the beauty of our homes and bring the tranquility and spendour of the outdoors in, we may be able to live a more comfortable life, in balance with nature. Here are out top tips to help harness the power of nature and bring the outdoors in this season.
Nature as a source of calm
Nature, undoubtedly, has a calming effect on our temperaments and attitudes to life. Take the idea of a simple morning run outside, as you breathe in the fresh morning breeze and feel more energised and ready to take on your day. Nature and being outdoors is often a great way to gain inspiration, peace and energy. If we can identify these elements and bring them indoors, in turn, we may be able to create an inspired and refreshing interior.
Here are some 6 ways to inspire you and bring nature inside:
- Think about those colours and tones of nature that most inspire you. Green has a wonderfully calming ambience and when applied to your decor, can infuse a touch of nature and the tranquility of the outdoors, even in your favourite rooms.
- Keep things in balance. Nature has a wonderful sense of balance – from the calming tones of greenery to the deep blue ocean – everything works in balance. Create a balanced interior through your choice of colours. Neutral shades inspired by nature include greens, browns, blues, beige and more – but also remember those bold pops of colour such as the burnt orange of an autumn sunset, or the bright pinks, reds and purples of Spring flowers.
- Nature is filled with organic materials and natural fibres. Bring organic elements into your space through mixed textures and organic furniture items that echo the outdoors. Think wood, stone, concrete, natural textiles and more.
Texture is a key factor when we think about the outside world. Whether it is the versatility of rich wooden elements, the graininess of the ocean’s coastline, or the delicate touch of flowers in bloom. Play around with textures in your interior and bring these natural textures inside through your choice of decor, furniture and finishes.
- Light, air and flow are integral in being outdoors. Wide open spaces allow for an easier flow of natural light and air in your interior. Link your interior with your outdoor living through wide open windows and doors that connect your living spaces with areas outdoors, such as a garden, courtyard or pool area.
- Nature is unrefined in all its splendour. Bring this idea inside through your choice of unrefined materials and furniture. Raw wood or concrete has a wonderful earthy quality that immediately hints at the great outdoors.
