Plascon House Tour: A cheerful & colourful apartment

Colour is life and this couldn’t be truer as evident in today’s cheerfully bright and modern apartment in Barcelona where designers have not shied away from bright shades to infuse energy into every room.

Art evokes vibrancy in the living room with a simple floating shelf to house some colourful collectables above the couch. The mix of brights livens the entire space, paired with vibrant patterned scatters and pops of colourful decor throughout this room. The backdrop, however, remains neutral in shades of white and beige so as not to overpower the colourful choice of furnishings. We love the patterned tiled flooring which stands out as a feature in this space. Simple beige drapes and a minimalist light pendant add simple elegance here. The ceiling is something out of the ordinary, adding depth, shape and beautiful contrast to the entire apartment. The curves and rounded edges are eye-catching and we love the playful mix of bright electrical wiring that connects an array of pendants in this open-plan space. Here the stand-out feature is most certainly the shocking shade of yellow cabinetry in a stunning luminous tone that pops against the sea of white overhead. The balance of bright colour to neutrals has to offer symmetry in order to work in design, and here we see it displayed wonderfully with a bright yellow that overlooks a more neutral kitchen space. The darker shades of the floor tiles, backsplash and wooden elements help to ground this room while glassware and hints of copper accents add a touch of modern sophistication. The bedroom is far more muted and the choice of white creates a zen-like and calming space.
