Plascon House Tour: A Pristine New York Penthouse
On the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in a landmark building in New York, this pristine penthouse demands attention with beautifully modern furnishings and a blissful layout for contemporary living.
The unit was in complete disrepair, and had not been renovated since the 50’s, but with so much potential, the new owners were eager to reinvent the space. They invited a luxury design firm to step in and help bring their vision to life in creating a bold, modernist penthouse.
The home offered top floor panoramic views and a larger footprint with 600 square foot of wraparound balcony. The team quickly stepped in to design the furniture plan and palette around the owners’ extensive art collection which offered the colour and textural pops throughout the space. The process was very collaborative as the architect and clients shared the aesthetic, and appreciated the custom details and quality level presented.
The home features an array of interesting art – an entire collection – which is showcased in almost every room. As such, designers opted for neutral furniture so that the art truly shines through. Pops of fantastic colour and texture are the perfect addition to each space.
The kitchen is striking and serene in white with bold wooden cabinetry. Handleless matte doors weer chosen to create a seamless, modernist look here.
The kitchen also opens up to a dining space where again, soft wooden tones, set the scene. Modern lighting with hints of metallic accents add interest here and tie the two spaces together beautifully.
The master bedroom is a textural delight, even in neutral shades. Grasscloth effect wallpaper adds to the overall aesthetic and matching blinds create a seamless look. The room is large and airy, extending onto the balcony and inviting the outdoors in.
