Plascon House Tour: A Glass House Surrounded By Nature

Today’s majestic home is a celebration of the natural Australian vegetation just beyond its walls. Here, architects have constructed a glorious glass home comprised solely of black timber and bold windows that look out over the landscape.

The interior is kept beautifully sleek and simple with an emphasis on what can be seen through the many windows that surround the home.

The site is characterised by a dramatic slope and a single tea tree. The home’s interesting shape and elevation add to the overall style and magnificent architecture of this design, by StudioFour.

This home is all about sustainable living with double glazed doors and windows to maintain the integrity of the building. Concrete slab flooring and blockwork walls provide a high thermal mass, to balance the large expanses of glazing.

These core sustainable design principles were teamed with underground water storage, water saving fixtures, low voc paints and materials, to complete the sustainable approach.

On the lower level, the kitchen, dining and living spaces are combined to create a single, fluid area, delineated only by a gentle level change and fireplace. The panelised matte black wall conceals a powder room, laundry and butler’s pantry, providing the high level of functionality required whilst enabling a sense of sanctuary, enclosure and comfort to be achieved in the adjacent living and dining spaces.

Beautiful inside and out, we love the overall design and simple interior of this stylish Australian glass home – it certainly is a breath of fresh air in the heart of nature.
