Easy, Breezy Spaces with Plascon’s Desert Spring

Easy, breezy spaces are the order of the day with Plascon’s uplifting and minty Desert Spring (G1-C2-3). Promising spiritual renewal and a hint of the Summer holidays to come, it is a perfectly refreshing colour for your home this September.

“Cool, revitalising, pastel Desert Spring will bring the invigorating qualities of the seaside into your space. If you can imagine waves, jumping in the blue-green sea and indulging in fresh sorbet ice cream on a hot Summer holiday then this delightful pastel colour will take you there,” says Plascon Brand Ambassador and Colour Specialist, Claire Bond.

Desert Spring is re-energising in a dizzy and playful, ‘dare to be different’ kind of way. It will look beautiful in a lounge but for those a little shy of the upcoming monochrome look, it can be used as an accent wall and combines beautifully with greys like Serene Setting (B3-C2-2), brightening up the room with a peaceful quality. Contrast in a living room with complementary hues such as similarly calming Fantastic Pink (R2-C2-1) or Swazi (R2-C1-1) or use an adjacent colour such as earthy Bushbuck (Y1-D1-4) for a natural look. Oranges, corals, peaches and blues also work well with Desert Spring.

Desert Spring is an excellent interior or exterior colour choice for the coast. Claire says, “Think crisp white walls and a painted Desert Spring front door and minty shutters. Or be brave and use it as an exterior colour combined with navy blue accents.”

Trend forecasting agency, WGSN, reveals that a pastel shade of green will dominate interiors and fashion in 2020 and beyond. In an interview with ‘Dezeen’, WGSN Colour Director Jane Boddy says that mint is a shade that succinctly aligns futuristic development with nature. Claire says that pastels are becoming popular again with mid-century design being used more and more in South Africa. “As a result, 50s colours are making a comeback either as paint colour or fabric. Looking ahead I even see pastels becoming the new neutrals replacing even the ever-popular greys,” says Claire.

A refreshing tone perfect for the upcoming change of the season, Desert Spring is guaranteed to breathe life into any designed space especially during the springtime when we say goodbye to the Winter months. Claire exclaims, “This colour is absolutely oxygenating!”
