Inside the home, we see this come to life most clearly in kitchens and bathrooms. These are high-use spaces, but they’re also where people gather, unwind, and connect. “When we design a kitchen island or a seamless vanity, we’re thinking beyond the practical. We’re considering flow, proportion, and how the material will live with you over time. A waterfall edge, a continuous grain, a perfectly finished join — these are the details that turn a surface into a statement.”
We’re also seeing more homeowners embrace stone in ways that go beyond the expected. Fireplaces, for example, have become a favourite feature to work on. They’re no longer just there for warmth; they’ve become an intended focal point. A clean, simple slab or a more textured, character-filled finish can turn a fireplace into the anchor of the room — something that holds the space together. This same approach is carried into custom features like bars, shelving, and feature walls, where stone brings depth, structure, and a lasting sense of permanence.
Outdoors is where things really open up. Living in South Africa, we naturally spend more time outside, and we design with that in mind. Fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and built-in seating should feel like a natural extension of the home. Stone works beautifully here. It handles the elements, it ages well, and it brings a sense of calm, understated luxury to outdoor spaces.
For us, it always comes back to intention. We don’t believe in overcomplicating a space. Often, one well-considered surface is enough to define it. When the material is right and the execution is precise, the result speaks for itself.
