Showerline: Your Guide to Installing A Custom Shower Enclosure

Renovating is a massive process and can become quite a headache for some homeowners, even the ones who are experienced in the process. Having a plan in place could prevent disasters from occurring down the road when revamping any room! That’s why we decided to share this guide from Showerline with a few questions to consider (ask yourself or the shower company of your choosing) before installing a shower enclosure in your home, bed and breakfast, Airbnb, or apartment.

1. What is Your Budget?

As the most important thing in the whole process, determining your budget is crucial. It will determine which shower installation company you can use. Furthermore, it will help you pick the best type of shower to install for your price point, and determine if you are able to afford extra features such as towel railings or tiles.

So before you request a quote from your shortlist of local shower companies, know what you can afford.

2. Do You Have Space?

Another crucial question, do you have the space to install a new shower? Often, the company installing your chosen shower design will need to know the dimensions of the space. They’ll either ask you for specifications (via email or over the phone) or they’ll visit your home for a consultation (like Showerline) where they’ll measure the space for you.

So if you don’t have the space to install your shower, rather upgrade to a new space before starting your bathroom renovation project.

What specifications do we need to install a new shower? All we need is height x width x length. Coupled with this, is the finish you require, i.e. Framed or Frameless, Black, Gold or Chrome? Or Frames with Block effects and so on. If you’re unsure how to measure this, give our consultants a call, we’ll help you with it at no extra cost.

3. Do you Want a Shower or a Bath-Shower Combination

Have you considered what type of shower you’d like? Or have you decided that you’d only like to install a glass bath screen instead of an entire shower space?

Choosing to install a bath screen is a much different process than a shower space. If you do opt for a Bath Screen, here’s why it can be an amazing asset to your bathroom:

  • It limits splashing (especially if you have a shower bath combination).
  • Easy to maintain
  • There are various options to choose from.
  • They can have extra options including a handrail or holding tray.
  • You can read more about the benefits of installing bath screens here.

4. What Kind of Shower Enclosure do you Want? (sliding, framed, frameless, etc.)

There are various types of showers that each have a different purpose and style. Choosing which one you’d like to fit is another important factor.

Here’s a list of the types of shower enclosures available in the market:

  • Hinged shower doors
  • Rolling shower doors
  • Fixed shower doors
  • Folding shower doors
  • Corner showers
  • Semi-Frameless shower doors
  • Framed shower doors
  • Frameless shower doors
  • Tinted shower doors
  • Shower doors with Frosted Glass
  • Clear Glass shower doors

5. How Long will the Installation Process Take?

How long a shower installation takes will depend on the design of the shower (if it’s simple or a bit more intricate), when you made an installation booking.

Fitting a new shower in your home can take from 1 hour to 3 hours per bathroom, dependent on the number of bathrooms. So although we’re all excited about your new and improved bathroom look, ensuring the job is done diligently will ensure a seamless experience.
