On Tap: Quick, Budget-Friendly Cleaning Hacks
Feeling the pinch until payday? Here are some quick, safe and budget-friendly tips and tricks for household cleaning that’s easy on the purse strings!
You don’t have to spend a lot of money on expensive cleaning supplies. Make do with what you have at home for that fresh, clean feeling in the kitchen and bathroom. Here the professionals from On Tap share everyday solutions you can use to make the most of your space.
1. Stainless Steel
If you’re looking for an effective way to keep your stainless steel in a great condition, then simply apply some olive oil. That’s right. Buff your stainless steel with olive oil for a great, natural shine. It will mask scratches and erase pesky watermarks and repel smudges.
2. Clean Your Shower Doors
Is soap build-up getting you down in the shower? Simply spray your shower doors with shaving cream and wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Not only will this help to clean your shower doors, but it will also help to prevent them from fogging up.
3. Clean The Tub & Toilet
Make your own cleaning agent for the bathroom with everyday household supplies. A mixture of baking soda and vinegar makes for a winning combination to kill germs and remove stains. Use this combo to successfully clean your tub and toilets. Vinegar is great for removing tough dirt and grime – simply add about 1/4 cup to a litre of water and spray in affected areas. You can also clean your grout with a mix of baking soda, vinegar and a cup of warm water. Mix into a smooth paste and scrub into grout with a sponge or toothbrush.
4. A Shiny Sink
Mix baking soda, lemon and basil essential oils and dish soap for a shiny sink solution. Essential oils are great for a natural cleaning solution and offer many benefits to help you get a natural, fresh, clean space that also smells great. You can also add 5 to 6 drops of lemon oil to a litre of water in a spray bottle to clean, disinfect and deodorize countertops, sinks, tables, wood cutting boards, appliances and other surfaces.
