LIQUIDRed: Choosing A Colour Palette For Your Bathroom

LIQUIDRed, bathroom accessories and tapware range, share tips on colour palettes for your bathroom. Too often, when deciding to decorate your first home, redecorate your existing home or choosing a new colour theme, homeowners or aspiring decorators face the overwhelming task of choosing a colour scheme or theme – but where to start?

LIQUDRed, engineered by Bathroom Butler spoke to Karen Steyn, Interior Designer and owner of The Home Studio for some pointers when choosing a colour palette or theme for your bathroom space. As a first step, Karen suggests deciding on what theme you’d like to bring into the space – monochrome vs bold colours as an example. A unique way that Karen proposes identifying your colour preferences is by looking in your cupboard to see what sort of colours you prefer wearing as they often extend to other elements of your life, including your home.

“Shades of the same palette will not only prevent your space looking like one colour exploded in it, but also provide contrast and dimension, adding a new level of sophistication to your room design,” says Karen. Take the colour ‘blush pink’ as an example; it can be complemented and contrasted with shades of burgundy, dusky rose, apricots and terracotta which would be completed with gorgeous rose gold bathroom accessories and tapware.

Karen also says “If you’d like to include colour but are not confident enough to include a variation of a few shades, stick to the rule of 3 and choose only 3 colours to work with.”

For those looking for a more monochrome look or Scandinavian style, Karen suggests paying attention to the natural elements used, like wood and concrete – as these will form part of the colour palette.

“Regardless of the colour theme, I suggest keeping the materials and/or finishes to a neutral colour,” says Karen, “by keeping these more permanent features neutral, it becomes easier to change your colour palette at a later stage.”

Karen advises that anyone looking to decorate or refurbish any space in their home, should create a Pinterest board as this will help validate and evolve selected colour schemes.
