House Bloemendal: Natural Stone Bathroom Design | WOMAG

There is a temptation to treat a bathroom vanity as a practical component: a surface, a basin, storage. At House Bloemendal, WOMAG became the starting point for an entire room and a considered approach to natural stone bathroom design.

The bathroom is anchored by a custom double vanity fabricated by WOMAG in 20 mm Jadore Green Quartzite. Its deep green ground, softened by misty mineral movement and warm russet veining, brings the irregular beauty of natural stone into a traditionally ordered space. Rather than stopping at the countertop, the quartzite rises behind the basins in a sculptural, wave-like splashback. Its curved silhouette transforms a functional surface into an architectural gesture.

The effect is deliberately layered. Oak cabinetry introduces warmth and restraint beneath the expressive stone. The crisp white basins keep the composition clean and contemporary. Above, Kleur Space’s Oyster Bay Road covers the ceiling in a saturated earthy tone. This draws the eye upward and creates an enveloping sense of colour. Brushed bronze MEIR tapware sits quietly against the quartzite, picking up its coppery veins without competing for attention.

What makes the space work is not one statement finish, but the conversation between materials. The stone’s organic variation subsequently meets the precise craft of the profiled edge; warm timber balances cool green; and the ceiling colour turns the room from a beautiful bathroom into an experience.

House Bloemendal is a reminder that natural stone need not be confined to straight lines or expected applications. With considered fabrication, it can thus bring movement, softness and individuality to the most intimate rooms in a home, demonstrating the potential of natural stone bathroom design.
