Duravit: Welcome To The Bathroom of Tomorrow

Duravit’s new products for the ISH 2019 showcase the perfection of the company’s holistic approach to bathroom design.

The new Duravit series unite perfectly complementary trends in state-of-the-art designer bathrooms. Combinations of geometric contours with organic forms and patterns create an emotional tension. This is enhanced by a new approach to color – from Matt White through to Matt Black – combined with new finishes such as glass or metal. The digital networking of products is a further step toward the bathroom of the future.

Organic forms
Frank Lloyd Wright, an early pioneer of organic architecture, took his inspiration from nature. The legendary architect integrated organic forms into his works, seeking to harmonize the object with the environment. Duravit’s latest additions to its product ranges perpetuate this idea: sweeping lines and dynamic curves characterize the new products Viu/XViu, D.1, Happy D.2 Plus and Starck T, which create additional interest through the interaction with geometric lines.

The Viu/XViu series boasts a post-industrial elegance with a combination of organic forms and precise geometry. Working with sieger design, Duravit has achieved an unparalleled level of detailed perfection. The highlight is a washbasin variant based on Duravit’s patented c-bonded technology: the clear rectangular definition on the outside contrasts with gentle organic curves within. The edge continues along the tap platform as a discreet, outward-facing line. The subtle detail of the horizontal overflow within the basin underlines the horizontal alignment of the external shape. The ceramic on the inside is reminiscent of the softness of water.

Colours, materials and surfaces
In the digital age, many experiences involving the sense of touch revolve around tapping a keyboard or smartphone. Authentic surfaces help ground the individual and maintain a connection to the real world. This is one of the reasons why matt colors are currently a strong trend in interior design. In the bathroom silky, matt surfaces and wood create a soothing, warming atmosphere. Duravit’s new light and dark matt glazes for washbasins and toilets open up an even greater variety of combination options. Their velvety finish exudes a sophisticated elegance and creates contrasts with glossy individual pieces or colored areas. The new Duravit products offer both light and dark style worlds with perfectly matching ceramics, furniture, faucets and accessories.

The Happy D.2 Plus bathroom furniture is available in a total of eleven finishes for an individual look to the bathroom: quality wood, or stylishly matt surfaces in light and dark shades. Even greater customization options are afforded by the choice of six finishes for the console panel, enabling a whole range of different, expressive combinations: monochrome, harmonious tone-in-tone or contrasting. The new super matt Graphite lacquer finish with additional anti-fingerprint coating puts an end to annoying fingerprints.

Smart technology
An example of networked technology in the bathroom is the new SensoWash Starck f shower-toilet generation. From the outside it looks like a normal toilet, but innovative technology is integrated into the ceramic body. The associated SensoWash® app enables the shower-toilet to be configured individually, or it can be optionally controlled in the standard way with a remote control. Technical finesses guarantee comfort. These comprise, for example, a motion sensor for automatic cover opening through the sensor in the seat for user recognition up to a wide range of setting options for seat heating, the shower flow, and the controllable hot hair dryer. In combination with the DuraSystem installation system from Duravit, the flush and the odor extraction functions can be activated by app or remote control. The in-wall system is networked with the toilet in front of the wall and the operating unit.
