Duravit Apartment 47, Hotel Fritz Lauterbad
“Offline is the latest word in luxury”…
Winning the German Design Award in 2020 was an early acknowledgement of the keen sense of design epitomized by the Hotel Fritz Lauterbad. The characteristic style of the hotel in Freudenstadt combines lifestyle elements with striking features that are native to the Black Forest.
In the late summer of 2021 Fritz Lauterbad opened apartment 47, an equally stylish and unmistakable abode in the historical residential area of the hotel.
This project was the brainchild of landlord Steffen Schilliger in partnership with Monkey 47 and Stilmanipulation from Cologne and was guided by the motto: “offline is the latest word in luxury”. The hotel invites its guests into an oasis of calm. With a balcony and a view of the surrounding forest, apartment 47 offers a perfect retreat – far away from the “always online” and fast-paced nature of modern life.
Retro-Chic
Designed in an appealing retro-chic look, the apartment houses an “offline room”, where vintage lifestyles live on through furnishing elements such as a tube-type TV, turntable with vinyl records, and a typewriter. At the heart of the apartment is a copper-style bar based on the copper stills used to produce Monkey 47’s fine gin.
The apartment also has a bedroom and two bathrooms. Duravit makes its mark with toilets and washbasins from the D-Neo range by designer Bertrand Lejoly. True to the project’s motto, the series transforms the bathroom into a haven of peace thanks to its subtle color tones, clear edges, and real sense of order – a welcome contrast to the sensory overload of today’s world.
With their wood-look surfaces, the D-Neo vanity units create a direct link to the nature surrounding the hotel while also providing a refined aesthetic. A urinal from the ME by Starck range and the circular illuminated mirror from the Universal Light and Mirrors series round off the two bathrooms.
