House Tour: 2 Designers, 1 Joiner & A Magnificent Parisian-Styled Home
Sounds like the opening of a joke but… What do you get when two designers and a joiner come together to transform a once rundown London home? A magical retreat with endless style, of course! This is exactly what happened when interior designer Chelsea Dixon, and her interior architect husband Rob took on this project to transform their abode into a Parisian-styled marvel!
Together the couple runs Vada Collective – a design studio with a strong ethos and commitment to sustainability, design and quality.
Their own house reflects their shared priorities. While the decoration is simple – grey and white walls, subdued linen curtains – the emphasis is on architectural detailing.
Sleek and timeless
They went for timeless design – large glass and steel window walls that lead to green gardens and an outside patio area. Seamless wood flooring and open plan living which maximises the space.
Chelsea also got her father involved in the remodel. She called upon his expertise as a joiner to assist in creating a timeless kitchen complete with walnut cabinetry and a sturdy glass- topped dining table. A mix of blush dining chairs adds a pop of colour and texture to the room.
The couple also chose to reintroduce many period features in the home – to give it a classic look that won’t easily fade. Crown moulding and a vintage chandelier bring depth to the living room.
The Master Suite
A large master suite is filled with character. A bay window features a freestanding tub right next to the bed. Floor to ceiling curtains in a pastel pink tone brings colour and elegance to this nook while a fireplace adds to the luxurious tone of the room here too.
A former kitchen is also converted into a complete bathroom. Here a glazed wall echoes the back of the ground-floor extension. If you’re not really convinced that Carrara Marble is in its own league, then this bathroom may just change your mind. It’s a beautiful, refined and elegant space.
