About SleepSport

This is a bit of a long read, but it is honestly our genuine true story.

Christo, Gerda, Wiehan and Yolandy. Our journey as co-founders, long-time friends, and athletes (more like weekend warriors) into the world of premium mattresses, began, when it became time to replace our own mattresses. We approached the task of finding a replacement mattress, with the same diligence we apply to buying quality sports gear.

Between us, we span careers in engineering, consulting, hospitality, tourism, and the health industries. We know what it means to rest and recover well. We also know what a tough training session and the demands of work does to your body and mind – Our bodies take a beating today, only to face another intense session tomorrow!

Between the four of us, our day-to-day lives are a balancing act of meeting clients, managing engineering projects, caring for patients, and raising children. Over and above these responsibilities it is important to maintain good nutrition, have effective recovery strategies, and most importantly, getting quality sleep. Back to finding the right mattress!

We quickly realised that the process of selecting a new mattress was difficult. It wasn’t just about finding something comfortable; it was about finding a product that could support our health and well-being in the long term.
