Sliding doors connect rooms without taking up swing space, and leave no visible frame behind when closed. The leaf blends into the wall plane so the passage reads as part of the wall rather than an opening in it. The mechanism runs on a rail concealed above the opening, so nothing is cut into the floor and the floor finish runs through unbroken. Leaves are made to the dimensions of the project, from 2.10 m to 3 m high and up to 1.30 m wide, with wall-mounted runs reaching up to 6 m across. Finishes include natural wood, lacquer and glass, and the leaf can carry the same finish as the wall.

SENSEM crafts frameless door systems that blend into the walls around them. Without a frame or architrave, a room takes on a different composure. The wall reads as one continuous surface, doors can rise to full height, and modest proportions feel generous.

Made to measure

Each door is tailored to its opening and finished as the room requires. It may take on the wall’s own finish and blend into it entirely, or stand as a considered surface of natural timber, lacquer or glass. With sliding, pivot, hinged, acoustic and fire-rated systems in the range, the same frameless detail can follow a project from the entrance to the most private rooms.

Precision beneath the surface

The engineering stays out of sight. A patented galvanised steel mesh anchors the hidden frame within the wall and reduces the chances of cracks along the join, while concealed hinges bear the weight inside the door so it hangs true over time. The system adapts to existing partitions to suit a renovation as readily as new build.

Rooted in Spanish craftsmanship

SENSEM grew out of a Valencian tradition of artisanal carpentry dating back to 1936. In South Africa, we work alongside architects, interior designers and developers from Johannesburg, ideally from the first drawings.
