Trend Alert: Steel and Metal Windows

Steel is making a huge comeback in architectural window trends and we are thrilled to see the latest developments happening locally, changing the face of building designs and layouts with modern innovations for the here and now!

Gerrit Thomas Rietveld was a Dutch furniture designer and architect. One of the principal members of the Dutch artistic movement called “De Stijl”, Rietveld is famous for his Red and Blue Chair. He aimed for simplicity in construction and was invited by Walther Gropius to exhibit at the Bauhaus. Gerrit Rietveldt would be very excited to see the resurgence of his design concepts in modern steel windows, such as the exquisite offerings now available through Metal Windows. It is the minimalist nature of the slim steel framing which lies so close to the heart of “De Stijl” and the “Bauhaus movement”. The integrity of the materials is neatly presented. The steel surfaces are not completely slick. This displays the material itself in its most natural form. Various glazing methods are available in the system, but the preference at Metal Windows is the FORMAN Structural Glazing Method, unique to Metal Windows, which finishes perfectly.

At Metal Windows they have worked with top Cape Town Designers to achieve a steel window system which is modular and which offers a consistent 25 mm sightline throughout the framing. Couplers are fully integrated into the modules to allow for structural integrity while maintaining absolute minimums in the framing itself.

How amazing is it that this FORMAN F7 system has been developed locally here in Cape Town. Equally exciting is the overwhelmingly positive response that the system continues to receive from the design community. This is the most sophisticated evolution in steel window products offered to the market. Want to see if for yourself.
