Plantation Shutters: Q&A with the Managing Director
Werner Jansen Van Rensburg is the Managing Director of Plantation Shutters (Pty) Ltd. He joined the Plantation Shutters family in 2009 and what an amazing journey it has been so far! We caught up with Werner to find out about his career and what trends we can expect in the seasons ahead.
1. Where do you draw your inspiration?
Most of my inspiration comes from interacting with our teams on a daily basis. I find people very fascinating and there is so much to learn from people and their stories.
2. What would you say is the top skill required in your career?
Most definitely the ability to identify a team member’s strengths and weaknesses, and the ability to adapt the organization process to ensure that each team member spends at least 80% of their day doing the task they love and have a passion for. This is also the reason why we as an organization have the ability to give the exceptional service that we do, as we have a team in place that enjoy what they do.
3. If you were not with Plantation Shutters, where would we find you?
My second passion after Plantation Shutters is most definitely anything regarding aviation – a pilot or even an air traffic controller.
4. What do you love most about your work?
I absolutely love working with the team on a daily basis. I don’t think there is anything more satisfying, and in the same breath inspiring, than to see how our team loves our brand, to see team members going the extra mile with no questions asked, ensuring that all our clients have the WOW experience. This is also one of the big contributing factors to the Plantation Shutters success story.
5. Any new Plantation Shutters products that we should look out for?
We are very excited about the Designer Range Collection and we also recently opened a showroom in Kramerville, Johannesburg.
6. I always travel with…
A small note book and pen close by. Most of my ideas are born at 33 000 feet in the air.
7. My best holiday destination is…
We absolutely love to travel South Africa. Our favourite place is a little town called Groot Marico in the North West. We also have a team up in Mauritius and it’s always a pleasure to visit them.
8. I collect…
Music – I have a great passion for all genres of music.
