Torel Palace Porto
Torel Palace Porto is an elegant new boutique five star-hotel in the heart of Porto with 24 rooms and Suites that opened in February 2020. This building has been brought to the 21st century by one of the biggest and well-known luxury hotel chains in Portugal, the Torel Boutiques.
This new project by Torel Boutiques is housed in one of the most stunning historic palaces in Porto, the Palacete Campos Navarro. The Palace, dating back to 1861, and typical of those of the bourgeoisie at the time, is one of the most impressive and distinguished examples of the romantic architecture period in Porto. A highlight is an exceptionally stunning skylight (“Claraboia”).
The concept of Torel Palace Porto is to honour Portuguese writers and poets. Each of the 24 rooms has been named after one of these creatives, among them Eça de Queiroz, Florbela Espanca and, of course, perhaps the best-known Portuguese writer, Fernando Pessoa.
Such historic buildings could be only trusted to someone who shared such similarities and experience and most of all, the know-how to fully respect and preserve such historic richness, and especially restore such an iconic building.
That’s the reason why almost entirely the project was trusted in the experienced hands of Epoca – Home, Palace & Hotel Concept.
Located in the heart of the city, Torel Palace Porto is just around the corner from Batalha square with its imposing Sáo Joáo National Theatre and the Santo Ildefonso Church. You are only a few minutes’ walks from the famous Bolháo market área, with its traditional liquor, cheese, and pastry shops – total immersion into the real Porto. For shopping aficionados, Rua Santa Catarina is the ideal place to spend an afternoon – with a perfect coffee break at the famous art deco Majestic Café.
