Glorious Outdoor Spaces with Wonderwall Studios
Wonderwall Studios is all about joyous materials and sustainability through reclamation. As a creative studio, they design and produce wooden panelling for walls and surfaces. Let’s take a closer look at some of their glorious outdoor installations available through local agents Avnex!
Their first line is suitable for outdoor spaces and is solely made from the finest Kalimantan reclaimed hardwoods. Yep, their ‘Barrow’ and ‘Ludlow’ panels can take a hit or two from Mother Nature. Those who use it for the outdoors will be awarded a beautiful silver-gray colour. In a word: weathered. The ‘Ludlow’ panels have made it all the way to Boston for a big bold project, West of Chestnut Apartments, designed by Landsworks Studio. The end result is phenomenal, striking and modern. How it all started Wonderwall Studios wasn’t founded, it happened. The creators were doing something else when they just got the idea to start making wood panelling from recycled wood. At first it was very basic: they’d come across abandoned houses on travels in South-East Asia, take out the girders, work on them a bit and then envision this wonderful bit of wood on someone’s wall.
That was a couple of years go. They are fully organised now and have a great group of local craftsmen working in the team to create collections of wall panels. The thing that hasn’t changed is that they still scour the land for anything that can be upcycled. They prefer upcycle to recycle because what they do actually enhances the wood. Wonderwall Studios don’t just give it a second life; they give it a better one.
The collection The Wonderwall Studios collection has something for everyone. You can find panels adorning walls, ceilings, bars, reception desks and even floors in both commercial and residential spaces. We think it’s great that loads of people have discovered the versatility of their panels to enrich their interiors. The collections are as diverse as the interiors they enliven. Wonderwall Studios is represented in South Africa by Avnex.
