The Lighting Warehouse: Dome Coming
From ancient to modern times, domes have always played a pivotal role in the world of design – from the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, to the Pantheon in Rome, and the Eden Project in Cornwall, domes are featured all over the world.
They have also remained popular in the world of interior décor, and are making a big comeback in lighting, says Melissa Davidson from The Lighting Warehouse: “Dome lights offer a streamlined and elegant shape that provides a practical means of illumination. Use clear materials such as glass to provide general ambient light, or opaque materials, such as metal, to provide a more directed task or feature lighting.”
The Lighting Warehouse offers a wide variety of dome-shaped light fittings, including the following latest releases:
- The Mason clear glass pendants are available in four multi-coloured metallic retro cup sections, including Satin Brass (code: 24787), Black (code: 24788), Satin Chrome (code: 24789), and Copper (code: 24842). They come with an adjustable 1,2m cord, and retail for R999,00 each from The Lighting Warehouse.
- The Helsinki (code: 25029) pendant finds its inspiration in the clean minimalism of Scandinavian décor styles, and comprises a white domed metal wire frame shape, with a solid wood feature on top. It retails for R1999,00 from The Lighting Warehouse.
- The Lupito (code: 25005) boasts a timelessly elegant vintage design, in a black steel finish on the outer and a warm mustard gold finish on the inside. This pendant has a heavy, opaque finish, so a 15W LED globe will complement it best. It retails for R1199,00 from The Lighting Warehouse.
For both the Mason and the Helsinki pendants, Melissa says that the incandescent carbon filament, pear-shaped, dimmable globe (code: 21109, Price: R99.00) and the LED filament, pear-shaped, dimmable globe (code: 8944, Price: R149) are ideal globes.
