Shine On: An Exhibition of Willowlamp Sconces
Renowned local lighting design company willowlamp is showcasing its exciting range of wall-mounted designs at the willowlamp studio and factory in Salt River, Cape Town until 31 July 2021.
The exhibition, entitled Shine On, will be open from Monday to Friday, from 10h00 to 15h00, and on Saturdays by appointment only. There is no entry fee to view this new collection by the multiple award-winning South African design studio and all are welcome to attend.
The company’s creative director and founder Adam Hoets has cleverly mounted a stimulating display of designer pieces in his working factory space. This provides a unique opportunity for you to see how and where these iconic lights are made – and perhaps acquire one for yourself! COVID-19 safety protocols will be adhered to at all times.
Alongside the sconces, selected samples will also be available for purchase at reduced rates. While the samples have been gently used, they are still in prime showroom condition. Also on show, are three new minimalist pendant designs designed by Hoets.
A New Design Dynamic
The willowlamp sconces are a welcome and versatile addition to the company’s ever-expanding collection of artful ceiling-mounted fittings. To date, willowlamp has been known primarily for its hanging lights. These include dramatic suspended creations that form the centrepiece of a space. The wall-mounted lamps facilitate a new design dynamic between directional lighting, artworks and objet d’art. This allows for more exciting décor possibilities.
Visitors can expect to see all-new stand-alone sconce designs such as the Half Pipe, Quarter Pipe and the Langarm. There is also a selection of other sconces that directly reference the existing willowlamp classics, allowing these pendants to be complemented by matching wall-fittings.
The full list of sconces that will be on show, as well as the sample sale pieces, is published on willowlamp’s website. The exhibition can be found at 6 Spencer Square on Spencer Road in Salt River, Cape Town.
