Lights By Linea: A Fun Dining Experience At Post & Pepper
In a glorious transformation, Stellenbosch’s old post office has just been reborn into a hot new fine dining restaurant. Post & Pepper recently opened its doors on the corner of Bird and Plein Street, Stellenbosch, under the helm of chef Jess van Dyk, previously from Protégé.
The interior of the restaurant took shape under the leadership of SKEP Studio with lighting design by Lienka Kühn from Lights by Linea.
The new gem opened its doors in February 2022. It’s located in a heritage building that’s 200 years old, and offers a casual fine-dining experience that the chef refers to as ‘Fun Dining’. As for the menu – it provides delicious options that are surprisingly affordable. Chef Jess cooks up some fresh takes on classics with touches of Asian-and South African inspired flavours using locally sourced produce. In fact, the menu and atmosphere are packed with all the things you love about fine dining with none of the stiffness.
As the name suggests, the restaurant pays homage to the history of the location. ‘Post’ therefore refers to the old post office as the owners loved that there was history and charm to the building, and wanted to treasure and protect it, while celebrating the new!
The ‘Pepper’ element naturally refers to the food itself as pepper is also a favourite amongst Afrikaans cooking. The logo also incorporates fine details to indicate the history of the building such as postage stamps, the antique details on the original doors and delicate touches.
The lighting certainly adds to the ambience of refinement and helps to set the mood. Lights by Linea helped to achieve the end goal by incorporating a beautiful lighting design to elevate the interior of the restaurant. It’s no wonder that Lights by Linea has been at the forefront of innovative lighting since 1990 and are continually searching for new and decorative lighting that has design appeal, yet is eco-friendly. They offer a complete design and specification service and they also import decorative and retail lighting that offers high light output and is technically correct, as well as design solutions.
