Fundi Lighting: How To Select The Perfect Table Lamp
When you’re decorating your home, there are so many considerations that will need to make. Everything from the decor, paint colours and furniture to the all-important selection of lights to suit your space! What’s more is that all these elements need to create balance in your room.
When it comes to lighting, there is no one size fits all. But there are a number of things to consider to help you choose the right fixtures for your space. Here we share some useful advice on selecting the perfect table lamp, thanks to our friends and lighting experts, Fundi Light and Living.
- Position is important
First off, you need to identify the perfect spot in your room for the placement of a table lamp. This needs to be decided upfront, before you even start to look at the available styles and sizes on offer. Do you need added illumination next to a couch or bed? If so, earmark the area and also think about the ideal height of the light you need in this space.
2. Height matters
When choosing a lamp, the height is important, not only for the range of lighting that you will receive from your chosen fixture, but also so that it fits into the greater scheme of the room. If you have a really tall bedside table, then you will most likely need a shorter table lamp to suit the space and provide lighting at the correct level. The rule of thumb in this case is to choose a lamp where the bottom of the shade is at your eye level when you are seated in this space.
3. Set the style
Lighting can totally influence the vibe of a room, so choose a style of fixture that will enhance the look and feel you are trying to create. If you’re designing a urban industrial space, then opt for a light fitting such as brass or steel with exposed bulbs to complement the scheme. You could also opt for a statement lamp in a contrasting style and shade to add a little playfulness or drama to your home. The choice is yours.
