Dining & Design: Vibia’s Leading Lights From Streamlight

Frequently used for entertaining, a dining room is one of the more public spaces in a home. That means it’s especially important for the design to be at its best, and lighting is an integral part of that.

Some of our favorite lighting fixtures establish a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the dining room, while elevating the overall aesthetic.

Welcome to Prague:

In Prague, an apartment designed by Jiri Nosek is distinguished by its pared-down sensibility and quiet colour palette, which carries through to the lighting.

A collection of Skan LED-powered pendants by Lievore, Altherr, Molina anchors the dining table in the open living space.

The sleek, milky-white discs dangle at varying heights, creating a subtle rhythm across the table, their elegant simplicity and purity of form reinforcing the room’s aesthetic.

Welcome to Portugal:

Designers from This Little Room created a strikingly modern home in Costa da Caparica, Portugal. The double-height dining space features a compelling play of clean lines and crisp angles and is illuminated by Jordi Vilardell and Meritxell Vidal’s Match pendant.

The customisable fixture is finished in white to seamlessly blend in with the room’s pale palette, but its angular architecture creates a sense of drama. Filling the lofty space, the cluster of slim metal rods fitted with LED terminals is directly above the table, its jagged silhouette like arrows directing the eye to the dining area.

Welcome to Alicante

The architects at Estudio Arze selected Antoni Arola’s Palma to illuminate the dining room of an Alicante apartment.

Pale woods predominate in the furnishings, lending a natural feel that’s echoed in the botanical wallpaper. A trio of pendants, their organic form recalling the earth’s shape, is perfect in this setting. Interspersed with greenery along its axis, the design evokes a hanging garden that connects light and vegetation as in an outdoor landscape.
