Spotlight Crabtree
A leading supplier of electrical accessories and circuit protection equipment, Crabtree South Africa (Pty) Ltd has been in operation since 1947.
Crabtree, which started as a local subsidiary of a UK company, was purchased by Siemens South Africa in 2018 and became part of the Siemens Low Voltage division managed by UK-based Electrum Sales LTD.
Today, the company is a leading local and international supplier of electrical accessories, such as switches and sockets, as well as trunking and conduit fittings, and a significant local exporter to SADC countries.
“Our mission is to develop world-class operational capabilities within our facilities to supply market-leading, branded products for the installers and users of low-voltage electrical infrastructure in selected territories in South Africa, the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa,” the company explains. “In short, we want to create a convenient, reliable and safe electrical environment inside living spaces.”
As such, all products conform to the most stringent SANS standards and the company is also a member of the South African Safehouse Association.
“The Crabtree manufacturing and assembly facilities have been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification and all products produced by Crabtree either carry the SABS mark or are approved for sale by the South African Bureau of Standards, ensuring that all products that bear the Crabtree name deliver quality, safety and reliability,” the company says.
All products are manufactured and assembled at the company’s facilities in Wadeville, Maseru and Gauteng. From there, it is distributed across South Africa, with branches in Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, George and Cape Town.
