Flowcrete Brings Sparkle to the City of Light
Flowcrete has been involved in a colourful floor installation at the stunning Belle Maison Parosand Danang Hotel, located on Pham Van Dong Beach, close to East Sea Park on the East Coast of Vietnam.
Danang, the city of Light, famous for the Danang International Firework Competition and Danang Light Festival is now considered the leading economic destination of Vietnam and is popular with tourists from all over the world. The design for the new Belle Maison Parosand Danang Hotel, which opened its doors in 2017, was inspired by the ever-changing nuances of light and arts in the city. The hotel offers guests quality accommodation coupled with generous amenities and exceptional service throughout.
Close to 700 square metres of Flowcrete’s epoxy terrazzo flooring system, Mondéco Crystal, was installed in the hotel’s lobby lounge and à la carte restaurant, Big Plate – which serves fresh seafood straight from the bay. Mondéco Crystal, which was installed at 6 mm in thickness, contains a blend of clear crystal and mirrored glass aggregates within the epoxy resin mix. Once cured, the material is diamond ground to reveal a smooth, level, hardwearing and sparkling finish underfoot. The entire floor installation had to be completed within a three-month window so that it would be ready for the hotel’s official opening. During the application process the continual construction and maintenance work going on around the floor area had to be taken into consideration. Green building practices were an important aspect of this development, as the architects designed and planned the project to meet LEED certification.
Mondéco Crystal added to the site’s green credentials, as many of the decorative aggregates are reclaimed from waste streams to minimise the amount of material taken to landfill – and its long life span avoids the environmental harm incurred during a flooring refurbishment. On the hotel’s sky deck, some 150 square metres of the company’s exterior resin bound gravel system was used to provide a slip-resistant finish around the hotel’s outdoor pool.
Rustik UV contains colourful natural stones in a clear aliphatic, UV stable polyurethane resin. This formulation delivers a highly durable wearing surface. The enhanced UV resistance of Rustik UV was critical as it meant that the new floor would not deteriorate when exposed to prolonged periods of intense sunlight. In addition to the installation of decorative systems in public areas, some 80 square metres of the company’s antimicrobial polyurethane floor finish, Flowfresh was installed in the hotel’s catering kitchen.
The material, which contains a silver ion based antimicrobial additive that inhibits the growth of bacteria between wash cycles, is a popular choice for catering kitchens owing to its hygienic properties. HACCP International certifies the material as food-safe for use in both wet and dry food processing environments operating a food safety management plan based on HACCP principles. Contact: Flowcrete
