At Wooded Exclusive Designs, every piece feels like family and that’s because the business and passion for woodworks started four generations back when a great-grandfather first planted Black Wattle and Pine trees in the 1800’s. The bark of the Wattle trees was used for the tanning of leather. He also made furniture for his family, which is still in use today, like tables, benches, (traditionally called riempiesbank) and chairs.

The generation that followed planted trees on the farm and the family continued to supply people as far as 50km away with trees to replant on their own farms. They obtained 3 m Oak Trees from Dr Juriaanse`s farm. The wood was also used to create beautiful benches, jewellery boxes, small furniture for dolls etc, many becoming family keepsakes.

Today the children are all involved in the business and Wooded Exclusive Designs share a passion for woodwork that has carried through the generations. “My father took Woodworking as a subject at school, and to impress his girlfriend – now his wife and our mother – he built her a bookshelf. This bookshelf is now over 50 years old and is made from Oak Wood. Needless to say, it is still one of my favourite pieces of furniture in my parent’s house – just because my dad made it.”

Now extending to the fifth generation, a passion for woodwork continues to flow and inspire. Wooded Exclusive Designs believes that furniture should be celebrated and inherited from one generation to the next. The oak tree symbol as part of their logo suggests power and courage – a symbol of the strong, unique furniture and woodwork on offer from this family business. “Today – my brother is the initiator, designer and manufacturer of natural edge furniture.

My dad is the driving force and motivator of the family enterprise. Our furniture is made with great passion and precision. Every piece is a unique work of art.” The raw beauty of wood is celebrated and oak, cedar, black wood and even plane tree are used to create bespoke and exclusive wooden creations.
