Spotlight: KARE Design Looks To Summer
While we may still be stuck in winter mode, KARE Design is already looking towards summer and the joy of al-fresco living and entertaining.
In anticipation of the sunny skies ahead, the company has unveiled fabulous new tableware, accessories, and furniture items – perfect for a summer soiree.
Their new collections are perfect for capturing the vibes of the Mediterranean on South African shores.
From their ocean-inspired Sicilia Blue ceramic tableware to vases, jugs and more in bright yellow and orange hues, and furniture items made from natural materials, there is a host of fun colours and pieces to entertain with this summer.
And to help, the company is also sharing some fab styling and hosting tips:
1. Summer colour scapes for the table
With summer comes the opportunity to let the table shine in vibrant colours. Choose natural colours such as fresh green, earthy brown or soft beige as the basis for a summery atmosphere. Combine these with lively splashes of colour in yellow or orange to create that certain something extra. For a particularly harmonious overall look, we recommend using ceramic tableware, beautiful glasses, carafes and drink dispensers.
2. Creative DIY decorations
Transform old plates or bowls into unique works of art with a little paint and creativity. Paint geometric patterns or summery motifs on the dishes and let them harden in the oven. This creates an individual and lasting highlight for your table. Or create table runners from fabric scraps or napkins in the summer colours of your choice. Sew them together to create a colourful patchwork or paint them with fabric dyes.
3. The latest trend for the summer table: Botanical Elegance
The Botanical Elegance trend brings the beauty of nature to the table. Green plants, fresh herbs and lush leaves become stylish decorative elements. They lend the table a natural and lively atmosphere. From delicate grasses to fragrant mint and exotic palm leaves – the diversity of the plant world allows for creative design. The look is complemented by natural materials such as wood, rattan or linen, which form a harmonious combination with the botanical splendour. You can also combine the decorative elements of “botanical elegance” with airy fabrics such as cotton voile or tablecloths and napkins with rom`antic lace. And think outside the ordinary flower vase: collect interesting found objects in your garden or nature such as shells, stones or driftwood and arrange them on the table. Or how about herbs and fruits?
Checklist for hot summer parties
When it gets really hot, you can prepare a few extras for your guests. These are sure to make your summer party memorable. Great options include:
– Offer your guests a selection of refreshing, non-alcoholic drinks such as homemade
lemonades, iced teas or sparkling summer cocktails. Also, provide a selection of chilled water bottles to quench thirst.
– Light and cool snacks. Treat your guests to refreshing snacks such as fresh fruit salad, iced gazpacho or a selection of summery salads. Avoid heavy and greasy foods to promote well-being in hot temperatures.
– Shady spots outdoors: If you are one of the lucky ones who can celebrate in your garden, make sure there are plenty of shady spots so that your guests can shelter from the hot sun. Set up parasols, gazebos or awnings to create comfortable and cooler areas.
– Cool towels and fans: Offer your guests cool towels or refreshing spray bottles with water to cool off in between.
– And remember to have sunscreen, hats, and bug repellent on hand for guests, too! And, get the fan out of the basement if you have one or borrow one.
