Meet Basis Furniture – a click & mortar furniture retailer, offering contemporary furniture designs and affordably.
It’s run by brothers Ross & Kyle Wilson, and they’re aiming to provide great design and quality units but at highly-competitive prices, as a result of their no-retail, online sales model (serviced from their Diep River-based showroom and warehouse).
Their refreshing catalogue covers dining, lounge, bedroom and outdoor-ware – including chairs, stools, tables and sofas. The style is contemporary, but classic. Palettes are mostly tonal and monochromatic, but with pops of trending pantones. They pair their contemporary and often Scandinavian-looking designs with well-balanced and contrasting materials; warm & fresh woods, industrial-feel metals as well as plush & hardy fabrics. Importantly though, because their stuff is all imported pre-fabricated and pre-upholstered, it’s available immediately – zero lead time.
Take a look at the Basis range online. The website is concise and easy to navigate, offering a well-sized range of genuinely good-looking pieces. All products are clearly presented in high res images, with important info like colour options, materials, specifications and up-to-date stock levels all well maintained.
Because of their independence and small scale, it allows Basis agility to pick up different designs which the larger retailers sometimes aren’t bringing in, and at smaller quantities, which means that you end up with a beautiful piece that is often unique and therefore not currently sitting in every other household across the land. And they’ve recently landed a lot of new stock, which is on trend for the season and ready for your home.
As mentioned, they have their warehouse and showroom in Diep River (23 Estmil Road) and Ross & Kyle welcome anyone to come and ‘kick the tyres’.
