Indoor/Outdoor Furniture Designs for a Stylish Take on the White Lotus-Inspired Aesthetic
Tribe Side Table
Transmitting all the characteristics of a rich and moody Tropical aesthetic, OKHA Design Studio’s most recent furniture collection, TRIBE, perfectly captures one of the moment’s hottest decor trends. Offering a stylish take on the White Lotus resort style-inspired aesthetic, the collection of indoor/outdoor tables and chairs was designed by OKHA Creative Director Adam Court.
Featuring two benches, three side table and a coffee table, each meticulously handcrafted and finished in solid wood, TRIBE designs are both tactile and functional and infuse domestic, hospitality or wellness projects with a powerfully grounded aesthetic steeped in meaningful multicultural storytelling. Strikingly organic, substantial, and detailed with bands of pyramidic carving, TRIBE conveys the raw presence of natural materials and honest form.
Commenting on the collection, Court says, “Tribe is both practical designs and bold, expressive works. Tribe is fully functional, its design principles are based the simplest of geometrical forms that engage and relate to one another in a logical manner. The bases are strong, they stack form on form that supports a horizontal plane, they couldn’t be simpler. Brutal simplicity, brutal poetry.”
At the forefront of innovative interior architecture and decor in SA, Cape Town-based OKHA Design Studio is well-known for its boundary-pushing ideas, including rarefied handcrafted furniture designs. Championing bespoke designs, hand-crafted techniques and noble materials, OKHA is a pioneering voice for African furniture design. The studio’s work reflects the perfect ecology of disharmony and balance by favouring artisanal over industrial production, imprinting their pieces with a human touch to lend them a characteristic quality that reveals their nuances over time.
