Maldini: Hot off the press and straight from Milan
This year at the Milan Design Week held earlier in April, more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 300,000 visitors witnessed a new era in furniture design showcased on a global level. This event is the pinnacle of international design and furniture trends – a worldwide exhibition where the best of the best showcase their wares and innovations in the realm of home decor and design.
Hot off the press, we take a look at two trending Italian furniture innovators, both leaving their prestigious mark on the world of contemporary design.
Porada
Born out of a love of wood, Porada embodies a trendy range of wooden furniture that emits a sense of equilibrium – striking the right balance between form and function. Porada’s collection is wide and varied, made up of a multitude of occasional furniture developed in cooperation with designers such as Tarcisio Colzani, Marconato & Zappa, Opera Design, Giovanna Azzarello, Marelli&Molteni, Giuseppe Viganò, Gino Carollo and Stefano Bigi among others.
This year at the Milan Design Week, Porada launched their spectacular Porada International Design Award 2017, with a call to all Italian and foreign designers and creatives to partake in this international challenge. The challenge, which ends in November 2017, is to interpret the values and identity of Porada, leading brand of Italian design, through the creation of innovative concepts for different types of small tables: end table, service table, coffee table and side table, in which the use of solid wood is prevalent (but not necessarily exclusive). The aim is to find innovation, originality and new design solutions for woodworking processes: these are the guidelines of the challenge.
Cattelan Italia
As innovators in authentic Italian furniture design, Cattelan Italia offers a wide variety of tables, chairs, beds, sideboards, bookshelves, lighting and other home accessories. Quality materials, attention to detail, true Italian design and functionality find expression in the unique shapes presented by the brand.
Milan Design Week helped to showcase Cattelan Italia in its full glory – a brand which continues to evolve and consolidate its global approval – rewarding the technological quality and the authentic passion dedicated to each client, as well as to each product, for many years.
Cattelan Italia were among the absolute protagonists of this edition of Milan Design Week, with a spectacular stand able to represent a contemporary reality. Milan represents a business moment of great importance, and exactly from Milan another future has started.
